7/6-7 Camp Kickoff!

July 6

Wow, what an amazing first day! Thank you God for blessing us with such wonderful kids.

We started off the day with a team devotion on John 15:1-9 on the grape and the vine, and then it was time for the kids to arrive!

Week 1 of camp consists of 21 kids total, ranging from 8 to 12. Our VBS consists of English lessons in the morning and the Bible/VBS portion in the afternoon.

We started off with an opening morning meeting led by Auntie Cindy

and some fun ice-breaker games!

After that, three groups split up for the morning portion of English lessons and games.

Games consisted of charades and pictionary. Some kids had some creative drawings and moves!

There were three groups for English class, split up by proficiency level. Typically, the kids in Taiwan start learning English in second grade

After lunch and nap time, it was time for VBS! We introduced two songs to them today: "My God is so Big" and "Jesus loves me". The kids were a bit quiet at first, but I'm sure by the end of the week the songs will be stuck in their heads. 😉

Afternoon VBS portion consisted of Bible lessons, games, and crafts. In Bible class, the kids learned about God's 6 days of creation.

In crafts, the kids used their creativity to what they learned in Bible lessons!

Games consisted of high jump, limbo, and jump rope

We ended the day with a closing and it was time to send the kids off! Wow! What an exhausting but fruitful day. Thank God for making everything possible and for these wonderful kids! Each and every kid is so special and so sweet. It was so awesome to see how the kids quickly warmed up with us and with each other.

We ended the day off with a debrief yummy boba provided by PDavid (THANK YOU PDAVID), and a delicious dinner at a curry restaurant accompanied by adorable cats.
