We are back home!

Our trip to Taiwan was filled with many blessings, surprises, laughter, obstacles, and countless moments of God's faithfulness. God worked in each of us on this trip, and we are so grateful for everything He has done! This blog post contains reflections from a few members of our team.  Jerry : One thing I learned is that God can use me as a supporter to others: give a hand to the teachers when they need help, help prepare the classroom for the classes and activities, and and help stock up water and preparing food.  A thing that I might need to learn more, what is the loving correction, specifically how to deal with children that are causing distraction or challenging teacher's role. Shawn : Throughout the course of these past two weeks, we got to serve and love many kids who came from broken family backgrounds, with some kids being abandoned by their birth parents or being separated from their parents through death or divorce. Through hearing various stories, it wa...

Week 2 Reflection

After two incredible weeks in Pingtung, our mission trip has come to an end, and we're beginning our journey back home. On Friday, we wrapped up the week with our final performance and dinner for the kids and their families. It was such a joyful celebration! The kids did an amazing job singing the worship songs and speaking English with so much confidence. After the performance, we had the opportunity to share a meal with the families before saying our goodbyes. Goodbyes are never easy, but this one was especially difficult knowing that not only were we saying goodbye to the kids, but our time in Taiwan was also coming to an end. We are so grateful for the members of Pingtung Bilingual Church, who have served us so faithfully and generously throughout these two weeks. They welcomed us with open arms and made us feel so loved. Their kindness and servant-hearted love have been such a beautiful example of Christ's love in action. We're also incredibly thankful for the ways God...

Thanksgiving Thursday, Prayer Requests + Photos

Wow, I can't believe it's already Thursday and our trip is coming to an end. There is so much to thank God for this week! Praise God for: - His constant provision and for keeping our team safe throughout this trip. - The incredible kids who have been so open, eager, and excited to learn more about Jesus. - Being a God who hears every prayer and faithfully answers according to His perfect timing. - Intentionally bringing each member of our team here. We all have different gifts and strengths, and it has been so evident how God has uniquely equipped each person to serve Him this week. - Every relationship that has been formed—from the kids and their families, to church members, locals, and even complete strangers. We truly believe these encounters were not by accident but were all part of God's plan, and we pray that He continues to move powerfully throughout Taiwan. - Every single one of you who has supported us through your prayers and financial generosity. We are so grate...

Week 2 Camp Kickoff!

This week has gone by so quickly—I can’t believe we’re already halfway through our second week! This week, we have 20 students ranging from ages 7–13. With more older students in this group, the dynamic is a little different from last week, but it has been so amazing to see how each child is uniquely created by God. Many of the students are also more advanced in English, so we’ve been able to increase the difficulty of our English curriculum and challenge them in new ways. Our themes this week have been “God Created Everything” on Monday and “I’m God’s Masterpiece” on Tuesday. Through these lessons, the kids are learning that each of them is created in God’s image and that He has a unique plan and purpose for their lives. They are learning that God’s love surpasses any worldly love we can experience and that we can always turn to Him for everything we need. It has also been incredible to see our team grow together in unity and how each day becomes smoother as we serve alongside one ano...

Week 1 Reflection

Image
Wow, praise God for an incredible first week! In just one short week, the kids learned so much about Jesus, and so many meaningful relationships were formed. It was amazing to watch them slowly warm up to us and begin to share their unique personalities with us. Throughout the week, the kids learned about God’s incredible love for us and how He is the almighty Creator of all things. They learned worship songs like “My God is So Big,” “Jesus Loves Me,” and “This Little Light of Mine.” They practiced many English chants and phrases, played lots of games, and made fun crafts.  On Friday, we invited the families to the church for a special performance where the kids shared everything they had learned throughout the week. Afterward, we enjoyed dinner together with the families before it was time to say goodbye. It was bittersweet knowing that we may...

Thanksgiving Thursday + More Photos

It's been less than a week but there's already so much to be thankful for!  - This week, we've truly witnessed the beauty of child-like faith. It has been amazing to witness how each child has their own unique personality and how God has created each of them so wonderfully. Some of the kids had never heard of Jesus before, yet they were so eager to learn and open to receiving His love. - Although very loud, the kids are very well behaved. I was really touched when I learned that one of the students didn't want to eat the snack that she got because she wanted to save it for her Grandma. What a good example of God's sacrificial love for us.  - It has been incredible to see how God has gifted us with the ability to connect and communicate with these children across a language barrier. Even though our Chinese may not always be perfect, God continues to work in amazing ways. He uses our efforts, our words, and our relationships to make His love known. - PDavid and PBC ar...
