Week 1 Reflection
Wow, praise God for an incredible first week! In just one short week, the kids learned so much about Jesus, and so many meaningful relationships were formed. It was amazing to watch them slowly warm up to us and begin to share their unique personalities with us.
Throughout the week, the kids learned about God’s incredible love for us and how He is the almighty Creator of all things. They learned worship songs like “My God is So Big,” “Jesus Loves Me,” and “This Little Light of Mine.” They practiced many English chants and phrases, played lots of games, and made fun crafts.
On Friday, we invited the families to the church for a special performance where the kids shared everything they had learned throughout the week. Afterward, we enjoyed dinner together with the families before it was time to say goodbye. It was bittersweet knowing that we may never see some of these kids again, but we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their lives. The memories and impact we have shared with one another will last far beyond this one week.
We invited the families to join us for Sunday service, and we were so thankful to see many of them come! Please continue to pray for their faith to grow, that they would remain curious and eager to learn more about God, and that there would be many more opportunities for them to hear and experience the love of Christ.
Although we came here to serve, we have been blessed and served in so many ways. We are incredibly thankful for everyone at the church. They have not only welcomed us with open arms and taken care of us, but they have also become dear friends through the meaningful relationships we have built together.
We also praise God for His protection and safety during the typhoon. Since most of the storm impacted the northern parts of Taiwan, we only experienced some rain on Saturday.
Tomorrow begins a new week of camp! Please pray for continued strength, energy, good health, and safety. Pray that the kids’ hearts would be open to receiving God’s Word and that we would continue to build strong, meaningful relationships with them. We are excited to see how God will continue to work through this week!
